7-Jar is Hamzet Wasel’s annual public event focusing on community exploration and specific challenges throughout the city. These challenges promote community exploration, development and interaction between members of different neighborhoods throughout Amman. One issue facing the city is the lack of social contact between people of different neighborhoods in Amman. 7-Jar, which includes participants from all areas of Amman, is designed to tackle this problem by encouraging teamwork and the use of collective problem-solving skills. The name 7-Jar refers to the “seven mountains” of Amman and makes reference to the Prophet Mohammad’s call on people to ask after their seventh neighbor.  Unlike last year’s clue-based event, 7-Jar 2011 was challenge-based, meaning participants were required to accomplish certain tasks upon reaching the required destinations. For example, once participants reached one of their stops at Jewel of Armenia restaurant, they were required to make their very own “Sfihah”, a dish of beef and flour, for lunch. At another destination, participants learned to dance the ‘dabkeh”, while at a third they did the job of a used-clothes shopkeeper for a couple of hours and at a fourth they made kites with the help of a group of children. Buses were the only permissible means of transportation: No taxis or service cars were allowed.

Each team consisted of two men and two women from as diverse a set of background as possible from within Amman, and the team was specifically formulated so that members on each team did not know each other prior to the 7-Jar event. This year, Hamzet Wasel had 28 participants, and seven teams.

تحدي سابع جار الذي تنظمه “همزة وصل”،  هو تحدي البحث عن الكنز الإنساني – التراثي و المدني – في مدينة عمّان، والمستوحى من تنوّع المدينة وتنوّع سكانها. يتيح تحدي سابع جار الفرصة لكافة العمّانيين من شتى الأطياف والشرائح ومن كل مناطق عمّان بلا استثناء التعرف عن قرب وبشكل أكثر دفئاً وحميمية على مدينتهم، حيث يمثّل التحدي ملتقى عمّانياً يجمع كافة أبناء عمّان من أجل فهْم خصوصية المدينة وتعزيز الروابط التي تجمع المدينة بأبنائها، وذلك من خلال التجوال في زواياها العريقة والبحث عن الكنز التراثي و الإنساني فيها. مستوحى الإسم من جبال عمان السبعة وأيضا من توصية النبي محمد (صلعم) بسابع جار دلالة على أهمية العلاقات الإنسانية بين أبناء المنطقة الواحدة

بخلاف مسابقة 2010 لسابع جار والتي إعتمدت على حل الألغاز كان سابع جار لعام 2011 معتمدا على تحديات وتنفيذ مهام. وكطلب من المتسابقين ال28 القيام بمهام مختلفة ما كانوا ليمارسوها في حياتهم اليومية. فقد قاموا بخبز الصفيحة في مخبز جوهرة أرمينيا في حي الأشرفية وترتيب شوالات من ملابس وأحذية البالة في جبل النظيف بالإضافة الى تعلم الدبكة وكيفية عمل طيارات ورقية وتطييرها في جبل القلعة. خلال تجوالهم قام المشاركون بالتنقل بإستخدام باصات النقل العام ولم يسمح لهم بإستخدام التاكسي وسيارات النقل الخاص

تكون كل فريق من شابان وفتاتان مع مراعاة التنوع الكبير في خلفياتهم العمانية، وكان من شروط تكوين أي فريق عدم معرفة أعضاءه ببعضهم قبل المشاركة لضمان أغنى تجربة للجميع
