As part of an urban heritage project under the umbrella of the Friends of Jabal Weibdeh Association, Hamzet Wasel organized a heritage challenge, entitled “Hayi-ll-Jabal”, which aimed at raising awareness on the significance and specificity of Amman’s urban heritage amongst the children of the neighborhood and to its residents and visitors.

This was a full day event be held on Saturday April 24th, which included 30 boys and girls aged 12-13 from Luweibdeh, working in teams of five to uncover a number of clues and riddles which will take them through all major streets, landmarks, places and people of significance in the area. The challenge took place from 10 am to 4 pm and was a challenging and exciting event that imparted the area’s heritage to the children in an engaging, interactive and memorable way. In addition, all of the residents and businesses in Luweibdeh participated in one way or another, at clue destinations, as observers, and as guides or mentors. Each teams was made up of 7th graders from three major Weibdeh schools-Terra Sancta, Dirar Ibn El-Azwar and Balat il-Shuhada. Two of the schools were private sector schools and two were public to encourage engagement and relationship-building between children from different socioeconomic backgrounds who would normally not have the opportunity to meet and interact.

كجزء من مشروع التراث الحضري تحت مظلة رابطة أصدقاء جبل اللويبده، نظمت همزة وصل تحدي تراثي بعنوان “حي الجبل”، الذي يهدف إلى زيادة الوعي بأهمية وخصوصية التراث الحضري في عمان بين أطفال الحي والمقيمين فيه والزوار.

وكان هذا التحدي عبارة عن يوم كامل عقد في 24 نيسان 2010، و شمل 30  من الفتيان والفتيات الذين تتراوح أعمارهم بين 12 13 من جبل اللويبده، قسموا الى فرق من خمسة للكشف عن عدد من الخيوط والاحاجي التي ستأخذهم الى جميع الشوارع الرئيسية والمعالم، والأماكن والناس ذو الأهمية في المنطقة. التحدي الذي عقد من الساعة 10 صباحا إلى الساعة 4 بعد الظهر، كان حدثاً صعبا ومثيرا وساهم في إثراء معرفة الأطفال بتراث المنطقة بطريقة المشاركة التفاعلية التي لا تنسى. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، شارك جميع السكان والأعمال التجارية في اللويبده في التحدي بطريقة أو بأخرى، في توجيه المشاركين، بصفة مراقبين، وأدلة أو موجهين. كل الفرق تألفت من طلاب الصف السابع من الثلاثة مدارس الرئيسية في جبل اللويبده؛ Terra Sancta، ضرار بن الازور و بلاط الشهداء. واحدة من المدارس هي من مدارس القطاع الخاص واثنين من المدارس الحكومية لتشجيع المشاركة وبناء العلاقات بين الأطفال من مختلف الخلفيات الاجتماعية والاقتصادية الذين عادة لا تتوفر لهم الفرصة للالتقاء والتفاعل.
