Ghent University – Qalaa Visit

Twenty-five students from Ghent University (Belgium) spent a day with Jabal Al Qala’a residents to discover this often overlooked part of Amman. The day was filled with activities, which provided the students with a glimpse into the lives of Jabal Qala’a residents:  kite making and flying with the children; cooking with women from the community; and gathering at the end of the day on a family home rooftop to share food and stories while looking over the center of downtown Amman.

Ghent University Student Discovery

Students form Ghent University were asked by Hamzet Wasel to divide themselves into groups and head to downtown Amman to uncover off the beaten track elements in the heart of the city. One group explored historical buildings, while another followed a food trail and yet another explored the architecture. Their findings were eye-opening even to veteran Ammanis.

Language Exchange

A group of foreign students studying Arabic at the Language Center of the University of Jordan to run weekly English-language workshops for twenty-five Jabal Al Qala’a children. This created a mutually beneficial environment in which English-speaking students taught Arabic-speaking children practical English skills while benefiting from an opportunity to interact with people in Arabic to improve their own language skills.

جامعة غنت – جبل القلعة

أمضى خمسة وعشرين طالبا من جامعة غنت (بلجيكا) يوما مع سكان “جبل القلعة” لاكتشاف هذا  الجزء من عمان الذي غالبا ما يغفل عنه. كان اليوم مليئاً بالأنشطة التي زودت الطلاب بلمحة عن حياة سكان الجبل: صناعة و تطيير الأطباق الورقية مع أطفال الجبل؛ الطهي مع نساء المجتمع المحلي؛ والتجمع في نهاية اليوم على سطح منزل لأحد أسر الجبل مطل على منظر بديع لوسط مدينة عمان لمشاركتهم الطعام والتفاعل معهم.

التحدي الإستكشافي لطلاب جامعة غنت

طلبت همزة وصل من طلاب جامعة غنت تقسيم أنفسهم إلى مجموعات والتوجه إلى وسط مدينة عمان للكشف عن الأماكن الخارجة عن المألوف في قلب مدينة عمّان. احد المجموعات قامت بإستكشاف مجموعة من المباني التاريخية، في حين قامت مجموعة أخرى بإتباع سلسلة الغذاء في المدينة والمجموعة الأخيرة قامت باستكشاف البنيان المختلف. وكانت النتائج التي توصلوا إليها مبهرة حتى بالنسبة للعمّانيين أنفسهم.

تبادل اللغات

قام مجموعة من الطلبة الأجانب الذين يدرسون اللغة العربية في مركز اللغات في الجامعة الأردنية بعقد ورشات عمل لتعليم 25 طفلا من أطفال جبل القلعة اللغة الإنجليزية. هذا خلق منفعة مشتركة بين الطلاب الناطقين بالانكليزية و الأطفال الناطقين باللغة العربية مع الاستفادة من فرصة للتفاعل مع الناس باللغة العربية لتحسين مهاراتهم اللغوية.
