During the process of engagement in Jabal Qalaa, it became apparent that there were no parks or public areas for the community.   The children expressed their desire to create a space for themselves and their families in the area and were interested in one particular piece of land. This was identified as belonging to the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and it was agreed with GAM that if a design was provided for the park in cooperation with the community, that they would provide support and funding to implement the design. HW believes in working with multiple partners achieve their goals. To this end, HW approached the Center for the Study of the Built Environment (CSBE) to manage the process of engaging children in designing and planning their own playground based on their needs and preferences. CSBE agreed, and worked with around sixty children for several weeks to develop the final design, which has been presented to GAM for approval. Once approval is granted, Hamzet Wasel and CSBE will work with the children to secure funding for the project.

 من خلال عملنا في جبل القلعة بدا جليّا عدم توفر حذائق ومساحات عامة لإستحدام أهالي المنطقة. وعبر لنا الأطفال هناك عن رغبتهم بإيجاد مساحة خاصة بهم وأهاليهم واختاروا رقعة أرض محددة لذلك. هذه الأرض كانت مملوكة لأمانة عمان الكبرى، وتم الإتفاق مع الأمانة أنه في حال تم توفر تصميم للقطعة بالتعاون مع أهل المنطقة فالأمانة ستوفر الدعم اللوجيستي لتنفيذه

وكون همزة وصل تؤمن بضرورة التعاون مع شركاء فاعلين لتنفيذ المشاريع فقد إتفقنا مع مركز دراسات البيئة المبنية ليقوموا بإدارة مرحلة التصميم للمساحة مع الأطفال، وبالفعل عمل المركز وعلى مدى عدة أسابيع مع 60 طفلا من المنطقة لتطوير تصميم نهائي. في الوقت الراهن ننتظر موافقة الأمانة على التصميم لنبدأ البحث عن ممول للمشروع
